Of course I don't mean a place in an apartment building but a cat condo that you can set up in your home specifically for your cat's enjoyment. There are many different condos for cats. Some of them are tall and are advertised as either two floor condos or multi cat condos. Other cat condos are designed to look like a small home with a front porch and the like. The latter is somewhat like an elaborate dog house but made for a cat.

Some cat condos are made from heavy cardboard and others are made of wood or fiber board or constructed to look like cat trees. The cardboard cat condos have windows cut into them and a shelf on the inside of the condo, so that the cat can sit on the shelf and look out of the little window. They can run through the condos by going from the lower level to the upper level which will allow them to come out on the roof of the condo. There are toys hanging inside some of the condos that the cat can bat about. Cats enjoy privacy and the cat condo is a great place to hide out. There are cat condos for the individual cat or for more than one cat to enjoy safely as soon as they learn to share it.

Other cat condos are designed like the cat trees except that there is a box within the tree that the cat can hide or play in. This type of condo is made of a sturdy construction, and like the tree it is generally made of a strong wood and is carpeted. If your cat likes to play in boxes it will love to play in a cat condo no matter if it is constructed of wood and carpeting or cardboard. It is not what the condo is made of that attracts the cat, but what it has on it or in it that can be used to hide or play in.

When you go to shop for your cat's condo be sure to get the kind of cat condo that will suit your cat's way of playing and napping. It should be large enough and strong enough to accommodate your cat's weight and size. If you have a cat that weighs twenty pounds you certainly would not want to buy a cardboard cat condo for it. For a cat that size you would have to get a cat condo that is built into the cat tree and the openings to the boxlike condos should be large enough to allow the cat to get into it and back out of it so that you will not need to go in and rescue it each time. This could become tedious to you as well as to the cat. The cat condos can be a lot of fun for your cat and as mentioned before, a great place to hide out. Cats love to hide because they like privacy and the cat condos give them that.

The cat condo is also a great refuge from children that may be in the house. Children like to play with cats and sometimes to tease them. The cat needs to get away an the cat condo is a great place to do this.
